The image here is taken from a photo used in Green on the Mountain, a key work by Mitamura made in 2003 and subsequently shown in Europe. A film negative for sale at a Belgian flea market captured moments of everyday happiness in an unknown family of the time. The girl smiling in the garden of her home forms a sepia landscape of the mind, overlapping in the manner of an after-image.
